Overview
Tambopata National Reserve is located in the Amazon basin in the Department of Madre de Dios and Puerto Maldonado serves as a gateway for tours to Tambopata National Reserve.
It is one of the most popular destinations in Peru. Primarily because of its close proximity to Cusco which allows travelers to take an hour’s flight or an overnight bus after visiting Machu Picchu Day Trip.
Tambopata Peru is rich in biodiversity. It is home to different brightly coloured parrots and Macaws that primarily feed on clays here.
Collpa Chuncho is the best example of this. Hundreds of brightly colored Parrots and Macaws fly here every morning to lick the clay. The clay here is rich in a specific type of mineral that helps them to flush out toxins from their bodies.
Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick is truly a magical and an unmissable sight in Peruvian Amazon Rainforest.
On this four day tour, you will be getting a detailed insight into the life of locals living here. Accompanied by an English speaking local tour guide, you will be spotting different mammal species including giant otters that inhabit on the shores of Madre de Dios river and Tambopata River.
You will also get to see different animals and birds, most are distinct to the region. As local tour operators, we aim to offer authentic experience. We will be serving delicious native meals each time so you get to savor the best of the Amazonian food.
