Machu Picchu By Car 02 Days – Hidroelectrica Route

Machu Picchu by car is a cheaper option, a new access route that does not require taking the tourist train service, this tour is a minivan trip along a well-paved road to Santa María and then along an unpaved road to the hydroelectric plant, This trip lasts approximately 6 hours with stops at key points to enjoy beautiful views and have lunch and then with a 3-hour walk to hot springs following the railway (Pueblo Machupicchu), during the trip you can enjoy beautiful landscapes, valleys, snow-capped mountains, high jungle full of flora and rivers that flow down from the top of the mountains with crystal clear waters and some towns of local people who are very friendly, which will make your trip to the Inca city of Machu Picchu unforgettable.

Day 01: Cusco – Hydroelectric Train Station – Aguas Calientes Town

Pick up from the hotel at 06:30 a.m. Then it will begin with a pleasant panoramic ride to Ollantaytambo, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the area, from there we will continue on a long and winding ascent to the “Abra de Málaga”, which is at 4,316 meters. of altitude, on the route, we will see some of the most amazing landscapes that the Cusco region offers.

Then we will begin our descent into the thick jungle, passing through the different microclimates that combine the paradisiacal landscapes of the majestic Abra Malaga snow-capped peak, with the warm entrance to the tropical jungle.

We will continue our route until we reach the Hidroelectrica train station, where we will have our lunch.

All this tour will last us approximately 6 hours of travel in our transport, starting in the city of Cusco until we reach the Hydroelectric station.

At the end of lunch, we will start with our walk until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes, which will take approximately 3 hours (10 km) following the train track, then, once in the main town square, our staff will pick you up and then we will install them in our hostel.

After dinner, the guide will coordinate everything about the Machupicchu tour for the next day.

Day 02: Machu Picchu – Hydroelectric Train Station – Cusco

We will get up very early in the morning at approximately 4:30 am. to have breakfast, then we will take the bus up to Machu Picchu, where our guide will be waiting for the whole group at the entrance of Machu Picchu and once you meet the guide, you will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours or 2 hours and half.

Important: Please remember that the visiting time in Machu Picchu is currently very restricted and very well controlled.

After the guided tour in Machu Picchu, return by bus to the Ruins bridge, and then we will return walking to Hidroelectrica to take our transport to return to Cusco, the return usually takes another 2 hours and 30 minutes, once here you can buy your own lunch for only 15.00 PEN. Upon your arrival, our transportation will be waiting for you at Hidroelectrica to return to Cusco at 2:30 p.m. m., arriving at approximately 22:00 p.m. m., and leaving it near the main square.

If you want to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you have two options:

First Option: You can stay one more night in Aguas Calientes and return to Hydroelectric on the third day, since to climb any of the mountains it takes almost three hours (round trip), and our transport leaves at 2:30 p.m.

Second Option: You can return by train in the afternoon from the town of Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo on the second day without staying one more night, and then we pick you up from Ollantaytambo to Cusco.
